New Year Eve
It is chilly today. The prediction is to freeze tonight. At 6:00 pm Ethel and I went to our neighbors for a great New Years Eve dinner. Gale even made Baked Alaska for desert. We got home about 8:45 pm. We tried to get the NEW YEARS EVE celebration in NYC but couldn't find it. So here I am to say"HAPPY NEW YEAR to All". May God be with us to have a great 2015 year.

Some drizzle
Today we had breakfast,no pain. We left the house at 9:20 the sun was out when we arrived at Cost-Co we had to wait until 10:00 am to stand in line to return a purchase and the wind was real cold and no sun. We went in to do our shopping and come home. We waited until about 1:00 pm for Alden to arrive. When he arrived we had B.B.Q Chicken, baked potatoes & mixed veggies. Then Alden started to install a new toilet in the master bath room. He had some problems and had to go back to home depot for parts 2 times. For dinner we had pizza and Alden had cookies and ice cream also. So it was about 8:00 pm when Alden got everything cleaned up and in his car and left to go home. I sure thank Alden for his work. Ethel just came and told me she can't figure out how to do the Blog for today so I told her to wait until tomorrow and I will help her. Tonight my hip was painful again.

CHRISTMAS PICTURES 2014
Today we went to Church, a young girl played Christmas carols on the HARP she did a beautiful job.
It was very cold so we did not go out for lunch. Instead we came home and watched the Chargers play the Chief's, not a good game, Charger's lost 19-7.
I am posting some Christmas pictures.

Merry Christmas
Yesterday I drove down to Alden's in the afternoon and had a good time with just Alden's family. We watched a movie of Christmas. Opened some presents and I stayed over night at Alden's. Ethel's grandson Sam picked her up to go to Chad's. for over night. Christmas morning more gifts were opened and time with Aunt Jean and uncle Jim. Later on Sam brought Ethel over to Alden's then Gina's family arrived and we had a great dinner prepared by Gina & Alden. Then there was McKenna's friend Jacob who arrived. Ethel & I decided to drive back to Rancho Barnarado before it got dark. We got home and relaxed watching News and our game shows. We had oyster stew and then we went to our rooms for the evening. I just got settled at the computer when Alan called from Taiwan to wish us Merry Christmas. The weather is a bit chilly tonight.

Getting ready for Christmas
This morning I got up with that pain in my hip and leg again. We had planned to go to Cost-Co to shop but put it off as when I get that pain I can hardly walk. Well we went to Cost-Co to get gas and went to get our hair cut, then we needed bread and a couple apples so I drove to Albertson's and dropped off Ethel to purchase the apples and bread and I have never seen the parking lot so loaded, I had to drive around and around so I just waited for someone to leave to park. Well I got out of the car and went in the store to tell Ethel where I parked, I couldn't find her so I decided to just stand in the parking lot to wait for her. We got home and had left over potato soup and we made scalloped potato's to go with salmon and mixed veggies for dinner as we were going to the club for Rummy-Q for the afternoon.Tonight I made cranberry jello to take to Alden's.
Alden called while we were at Rummy-Q and he asked me to drive down to their place tomorrow afternoon and stay over night and be there for Christmas. Ethel is going to Chad's with Sam Christmas Eve and she will come over to Alden's Christmas morning. I will try to take some pictures to post next time.
Merry Christmas Everyone

What a game
No blog yesterday, we were watching a Christmas story on the Hallmark Channel so we turned to the Chargers game at about half time. But now I will say it was a great game for the Charger's. I told Ethel even in the overtime that the Chargers can win and sure enough they WON. Even Ethel is getting into it. Ethel never watched a football game before until I got her into it and I tried to explain the game to her. Well I never played card games before until she got me into cards and Rummy-Q. Now I enjoy playing cards and Rummy-Q. So now I guess we are even. After all what is retirement about? We need to have a good time and something to do. YA!!!

Christmas activities
Last night we went to the Club Christmas party. It was very nice. The entertainment was supper which consisted of 7 ladies and 4 men. The men's dress was black suits with white shirts and black bow ties, the ladies was silver tops and black dressy pants. They did a excellent job of singing and preforming. To close they came to the tables and we all joined in with Christmas Carols. Each table was set up with black tablecloths and center pieces. They served cake and pie with coffee or tea.
Today we went to Church, then to Co-Co's and watched the Chargers they lost.

BACK TO BLOGGING
A lot has happened since I last Blogged as my computer had a hangover and didn't want to respond. On 10,28,2014 Ethel & I were in the progress of choosing a HMO. We were considering SCAN so we went to the site where the Doctor's Offices and other medical services are located for SCAN. So we left the house at 9:00 am to check out Scrips Medical building. There is a 5 story parking garage so we parked in the disabled space with the elevators just a few steps in front of out car. Oh that was great, we got in the elevator and pushed the button thinking we would get to the medical offices but NO we just kept entering the parking garage. Then a lady asked where we wanted to go, when we said we wanted to check out the medical building, she said "follow me" so she led us to the building behind the park lot elevators. Well we were well pleased with what we saw. They had a directory with all the different kinds of medical services and Doctors. So we were pleased as the next day were were to sign up for SCAN. We returned to our car and wanted to EXIT the parking garage. We saw the EXIT sign and went that way but kept going up and kept driving until we arrived on the top floor of the parking garage and decided to make a U turn to go down. Finally we made an EXIT. We were too early to go to Cost-Co so we went to get gas. Then we went to Cost-Co and purchased a new telephone system as our old phone doesn't accept messages. Then I went to plug in the NEW PHONES and found out there was suppose to be a filter on the phone wire and when I tried to use the computer I couldn't get on line as there was a "Certificate Error" will I tried to figure that out and I couldn't so I called Gina and they were coming over Sat. so will see if that can be fixed. This all happened on 10.28,2014 and so my computer was down until yesterday 12/12/2014.
Then in the afternoon we went to the Club and played Rummy-Q.
Well that was our day.

Day for Restl
We went to Church then we went to Claim Jumpers for lunch had to pay extra for any drinks, so we had no drinks, but I will say the dinner at The Welk Resort was much better for the same price which included all the drinks and everything. Then we had to pick up some items at Michael's. This afternoon Chad and Maria came over for a short visit.
Saturday a lady came to show us the different HMO's available under Medicare. We think we will go with SCAN, yes Lovely your mom really likes SCAN and we were under SCAN a few years ago. The main reason is under Kaiser we have to travel to far for special things and with SCAN if we have to travel we will get 10 tickets for transportation. SHARP medical is next door to Cost-Co. I have been doing my heat and massage several times a day and today I am feeling much better which I Thank God for that
.
See our garden has turned out to be mostly ceramics and the rabbits want to eat everything.

Just a few words
We went to the ceramics class at 8:30 then we went to the Bank. Came home and had lunch of individual pizzas, found out our toaster oven is not working well and the door will not stay closed so I guess I will have to buy another one. After lunch I went to do some Art painting as I need to put something in that Blank frame on the living room wall. Ethel went to the Club Hall for a musical while Gerry and I did our painting. Between times I must remember to go to my chair for the heat and massage several times a day. Then there is time for reading and a little time to TV news and game shows.

TODAY
It turned out a little chilly this morning, so we had hot oat meal with 1/2 banana for breakfast. Ethel did the clothes washing. This afternoon I went to the chiropractor and had a heat massage done for 2 sets of 12 minutes each time. The Doctor received the results of my X-ray and MRI. the result is severe hip degenerative Arthritis in both hips, slightly more on the left. Trace of bursitis about hamstrings, no evidence of fracture. There is degenerative changes in the lower lumbar spine. After receiving this report the Chiropractor said he would not be able to adjust me but advised me to take pain pills like Ibuprofen and heating and massaging treatments. Well I had never believed that I had Arthritis, that was for other people but not me. Now I know how painful it is. The Doctor said it is caused from heavy lifting and just ware and tear on the body for all these years.

TIME FLIES
How time flies and it has been several days since I Blogged. Yesterday we went to Church then we went to Denny's for breakfast. It seems like everyone around goes out for breakfast on Sundays. The parking lot is always packed. We came home and watched the Charger's play Kansas City and would you know this is the first Charger's game that I watched this year and they LOST. While I was watching I was wondering if Alan could watch the game, then I read Lovely's Blog and sure enough he was up all night watching it in Taiwan. As I remember the days when I had to tape the games and mail to Alan in Taiwan.
Today we stopped in at the ceramics just to check out our things that were fired then we went to the 10:00 am meeting on Medicare at CoCo's and after the meeting we each received a pie. Ethel received a Apple pie which we put in the freezer and I received a pumpkin pie which we started to eat. Oh so GOOD. Of course we had to put whipped cream on it. So we went over to Ross and spent some time looking around. Came home and had a green salad and Chicken Sandwich. Well that was our day which ended with a few games of Rummy-Q which I lost every game today. Then there is NEW's and game shows. We had extra lettuce as we shopped at Cost-Co so Ethel took some to the neighbors and they returned with gingerbread cookies. Well that is what our day was today.

Blog Time
I just finished reading Lovely's Blogs and they are so interesting. Sorry I am not very interesting.
This was a very good day we were just getting ready to go to Prime Time at church when the phone rang and it was Regina calling for a short talk with me. We went to Church and there was a very large attendance today with several people from 7-Oaks which we know. The entertainment was "The Sophistacats" the Menu was Teriyaki Beef, green salad, brocolli, rice ,pineapple upside down cake and coffee, tea or lemon aid. The Youth pastor gave the devotions and prayer. At 2:00pm we went to a meeting on Health Care for SCAN. We are under Kaiser at present. We may change for year 2015.
I am very happy that I got to down load some pictures on the computer as I tried yesterday and was unable to down load pictures. Thank God for helping me. Well here are a couple pictures.

Morning Fog
When arising this morning I looked out the window and it was quite foggy. We have been having good weather as it is very comfortable in the 80's for the highs. Well I have been feeling much better with not much pain as I have been taking the Ibuprofen regular today. I thank God for the relief of the pain. This morning we went to the ceramics, only a few ladies were there today. There was not a very good turn out the the Fair Saturday. Ethel and I played a few games of Rummy-Q. I Thank God for the wonderful day.

Pain
Today I got ready to go to Church and I was walking to the car and I turned around and told Ethel to go to Church as I had to much pain in my leg and hip to go to Church. Friday after ceramics we went to Albertson's to buy some Ibuprofen for pain so I started taking it Friday and Saturday and I had relief from the pain so I didn't take any more pills after 4:00 pm Saturday so Alden said I probably need to keep taking Ibuprofen until it gets healed. Ethel came home from Church and we made chicken & dumplings, O how good.it was, then Ethel made a green salad for dinner. We seem to eat quite healthy food. Thank God that we are able to prepare good food.

We went to the ceramics, I worked on a fish and finished Isaiah's dish. Tomorrow is the big FAIR DAY at the club. There is a lot of things that we made that will be for sale. Today we made brownies for the fair. This afternoon we went to the Travel meeting and they showed a movie. Had a break with tea, coffee & cookies.
Wednesday I went to the Chiropractor Dr. Farrell and he is ordering my tests of X-rays & MRI from Kaiser to see what is going on. He gave me a treatment and heat with a message and a very light treatment, I will return in 2 weeks. Also I am taking Ibuprofen and heat treatments.

Had devotions and a great lunch. This afternoon we went to the club for our "Hand and Foot " game. Came home and Ethel made us a good green salad for dinner. The weather was great today cooler than it has been.

No Camera
I know I should always have the camera. Ethel & I went to Cost-Co. Since it has been 48 days since we purchased gas and with the gas gage down to 1/4 full we decided to fill it up at Cost-Co, we were there at about 9:35 am then we went over to Cost-Co to get groceries so Ethel walked over to see if there was one of those elect scooters at the entrance so she hopped on it and drove it over to the car and told me to use it. I thought I would never do that but it was so great as I know I would never make it to shop without the scooter. Well we laughed and wished we had the camera. Can you see 2 old ladies having fun with a scooter. Then we put the groceries away and made a turkey sandwich and cottage cheese for lunch and of course the best NO COOK cookies which Ethel made. Here is the recipe. It is very healthy.TRY IT.

Shopping
When I got up this morning I had bad pain so I could hardly walk. Ethel was going to do the shopping at Wal-Mart but I decided to go with her but I had to sit at McDonald's while she did the shopping. With so much pain I decided to go to a chiropractor, as I think it is my back that is causing the pain. With our full calender I have no time to be laid up like this. I pray that God will heal me.

God is Good
Just to put a little color to this. Things are going well as I see a little improvement in the pain of my leg and hip. I must remember not to move very fast and stretch as much as possible. Yes I am using the cane. We went to Church and then went to Denny's and had biscuits & gravy, eggs scrambled and fries. Could only eat half so we will finish the left-over tomorrow. We will try and go shopping and get gas Tuesday if I can manage it.

Results of MRI
This morning was the most painful so far. The weather turned cooler during the night and when I got out of bed I really had a hard time to walk even with the help of a cane. So I took 2 Tylenol and in half hour I had some relief of the pain.
I received the results of my MRI which was done 09/27/2014. It shows mostly arthritic changes in the hip joint. Stretching exercises and avoiding activities that aggravate my hip would be the best. Also informed that there is no fracture.
Well that is enough of my complaint. I still trust that God will take care of me.

FALL PRIME TIME
I am still trying to recoup from my fall which was about six weeks ago. I know God will take care of me. I thank Ethel for helping, She has been a blessing. I still have not gotten the results of my MRI.
Today we went the the Prime Time at church which is from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. The entertainment was KENSINGTION TRIO which consisted of Violin, Cello and Piano. Pastor Bruce presented the devotions about the Bible story of Ruth and prayer. Then we were served a delicious meal of green salad, rolls, bowl of fresh fruit, quiche and bread pudding for desert also drinks of water, coffee, tea, or juice. I also took some pictures that are posted in the foyer of the church when this church started in 1964 as the church was started at the 7 Oaks Club. These pictures are of the inside of the Club house and on the patio of the Club.
Also we went to the Club this afternoon to play (hand & foot) with our friends.

In the box
Had a good night sleep, wake up at 5:30 am so I got up and took a shower as Alden was to be here at 7:00 am to take me to San Marcos for my MRI exam. These days I do things slower and wanted to relax before we took off. Alden helped me to make sure that I did everything right. THANKS ALDEN YOU MAKE IT SEEM SO EASY, Well I was in the box for 25 min. with ear phones to listen to relaxing music. Alden had ear plugs in his ears as the machine makes quite a noise. I should get a message from the doctor sometime next week to find out the results.
When finished Alden drove us back to R.B. and we stopped at CoCo's for a little snack. I pointed out to Alden where I fell at CoCo's. Next we went to Cost-Co for gas. Then we came home and Alden helped with a few things in the house. His stay was to-o-o-o-o short but so appreciated. At 2:30 pm Ethel and I went to Gerry's and Elleen's to play "Hand & Foot". Came home and Ethel popped 2 Marie Callender's pot pies in the oven for dinner, o so good.

Apt.for MRI
I have the appointment to have my MRI tomorrow at 8:00 am at San Marcos. We went to the club for the ceramics at 8:30 am, while at ceramics I received a call form Alden, he was checking in on me and is coming up tomorrow to take me to my MRI appointment. We came home for lunch and a little relaxation then we went to the club for a entertainment show called "THE RINSTONES" Which consists of elderly ladies ages 69 through 84. They are very good which makes you wonder how ladies that age could preform so well, they are beautiful. At the end one of the ladies gave her testimony and praised God for healing her. We saw their show at Prime Time at church one time also. I am sorry I didn't take a couple pictures but didn't have the camera.
Thank God for all that we have.

Doctor Visit
Today I had a doctor visit as I am having pain of my left leg from my knee up to my hip. They took X-rays and did not find any broken bones, Thank God but I found out that I should not do exercises until it heals good. With me doing exercises it just doesn't have time to heal. I need to ice the area twice a day and take extra strength Tylenol every 4 hours for pain. Every day it was giving me more pain. My dear sister took a couple pictures the day I fell so I will enter them in this blog. I still have some black & blue on my cheek. Hear goes for the pictures, very ugly.

What's up?
Well today is an unusual day. I slept in until 8:15am this morning. When I got up I made blueberry pancakes. Ethel was not feeling well and my left leg is still painful, so I called the doctor for an appointment tomorrow. I don't know if it is from my fall but it is getting worse. Well I pray that I will have relief from the pain when I walk. Today was the day for Rummy-Q at the club but neither one of us were up to it. Ethel gave me a pair of her white pants so I shortened them today.

Thank God for the Blessings
Today has been quite a day but God has watched over us. First I did 2 loads of washing and right after the second load finished Tom our neighbor came and informed us that there is either a sewer or water problem so he called Elite and they ordered a plumber. Well we were without water and sewer until about 1:00pm so we had to clean up the mess in the bathrooms, Than we went to our friends to play "Hand & Foot". I did some stringing of beads. The weather has been great today, in the low 80s.

HOT DAY
Well this has been a very hot day, over 100 deg. We went to the early Church service then we went to Denny's for breakfast of Biscuits and Gravy with a scrambled egg. Didn't do much but stayed in our comfortable home. The air conditioner came on a few times. Can you believe this for the last to months our Gas & Elect. has been only $53.00. Saturday we went to our friends who live in a 3 bedroom house and their bill was over $500.00 for last month. Well God is good.
Here is 2 pictures of some of my handywork.

Ethel was not feeling well so I took her to the Doctor and He checked her out and came to the conclusion that is was not from her heart. He gave her some medication and ordered a walker which will be delivered tomorrow.
My injury is quite healed up except I still have black and blue on my face and leg. Thank God I didn't break a bone. Will update more tomorrow

Today we got up and found out the electricity was off during the night so resetting of all clocks then breakfast and get ready to go to the Shopping Mall, we only went to Penney. When I go any place now I use the cane as I don't want to fall again and my left leg is very unsteady. Then we went to Walmart and had McDonald hamburger and water, although it was not like IN-&-OUT. Then we did some shopping there and came home and rested some and went to the Club for Cards. Came home and had a few left overs and watched the news but no game shows tonight as there were Games on T.V.tonight. Tonight I have to shut down the computer as SDGE is going to turn off the elect tomorrow at 8:30am for 8 hours.
Yesterday we went to Cost-Co and Home Depot and I made the decision to not install a new Front Door so I purchased material to weather strip the door so the air and the lizards doesn't come in and we will replace the screen on the screen door also. I made this decision as the cost of a new door was going to be about $3,000.00 as the door opening was not the right size.

What a week
Sunday Aug. 24 Ethel and I went to Church. Pastor Bruce has been speaking on LESSONS FROM THE WILDERNESS. After Church we went to CoCo's for lunch, on my way to the car I tripped over a car stopper and twisted my left leg and got a bruise over my right eye. Resulted in back & blue face and a large bump over my eye. I didn't want to go anywhere as I was so black and blue. Ethel finally got me to go to the club to play games on Thursday and go to ceramics on Friday. Everyone was so kind in greeting me which made me feel so welcome. Saturday Time Warner repair man came to check out our T.V., telephone and Computer as they were all out of order. He capped off the cable line in my bedroom so it wouldn't send out strange signals. He also worked outside on some things so now we hope things will work better. The past week Ethel and I have been stringing some of our beads and making earrings. Today, Sunday Aug. 31 we went to Church with my face plastered with make-up, then we went to Denny's for lunch. When we came home we played some Rummy-Q.

BUSY DAY
I made fresh blueberry pancakes for breakfast. Did some house cleaning while waiting for Home Depot to call to report on the installation of the new front door. They called and informed me that maybe we could go with 2 doors instead of one as they would have to change some things to fit the door opening. Then we went to ELITE to see if we could do that and they said we will have to submit a new application, from there we went to Home Depot to have them go ahead with the single door. Then it was noon so we went to Panda for lunch and then to 99 cent store, Joan's, and to State Farm as they needed the car mileage. Then we went to Target to get groceries. Next was to go home as we were tired. Rested a little and then worked on a puzzle. Made a green salad and crackers for dinner. Watched the news and the game shows. Also there was thunder and lightening off and on and a few sprinkles. Well I am tired so Good Night.

Need to catch-up
And here it has been over a week since I last blogged. We were having trouble getting into my blog.
We have been busy with ceramics on Mondays, cards on Thursdays, ceramics & oil painting on Fridays, then Rummy-Q last Tuesday, my second time to play at the club. We pay $1.00 for the afternoon and depending how you play you receive some money back so out of the 2 times that I went I donated $2.00 and received back $4.50.
Yesterday we went to Church and after Church we went to Lawrence Welk's for Brunch which was very good, after lunch we walked around and took some pictures.
Today we went to ceramics and found out that they couldn't fire over the weekend as it was out of order.
Then we went to Elite to get the OK to replace the front door. At noon Alan, Abby, Ethel & I went to Denny's for lunch as Alan & Abby were leaving this afternoon to go to L.A. to prepare for their flight back to Taiwan. After lunch Alan worked on my computer. After they left Ethel & I went to Home Depot to check up on ordering the door etc. We came home and played a couple games of Rummy-Q.

DAYS GO BY
This is another day which has gone by. Had left-over blueberry pancakes, um good. Change bed linins, washed clothes, tidy up the kitchen etc. while Ethel went to ceramics. I was waiting for the man to come and measure for the front door. We played Rummy-Q had lunch, went to the club for oil-painting and Ethel did her handy work. We took a little rest and had dinner, then watched the news, wheel of fortune & Jepardy and check e-mail. Looking forward for Alan & Abby to come tomorrow.

I miss the A & L family
Well what a beautiful day as we went for a little walk early in the morning. Since our fan died we took it apart and cleaned it and used 3-in-one oil on it and it works like NEW. Well thank God we don't have to purchase another fan. We played a few games of Rummy-Q. It was such nice weather that we had our lunch outside in our beautiful patio. We thank God for providing this home for us and for our health.

A New Day
I have not posted for a couple of days so I will up date what has been going on.
Sunday we went to Church, the speaker from the High School ministries is a student of Bethel Collage S.D, title was "Do You Speak Love?" After Church we went to CoCo's for breakfast and there we met our friends Dorothy and Mac. Then returned home for a restful afternoon.
Monday we went to our usual ceramics at the club, only a few ladies were there. Ethel poured some more things and I worked on my boy & girl. We came home and had left overs from the Mexican night out with Alan's. Watched the news, wheel a fortune & jeopardy.
Tuesday morning we went for a walk before the sun came out. We did some things in the yard, went to the club to check on the poured ceramics and put names on ours. Took a trip over to Elite to check on the approval of our front door and report to have bushes in the back trimmed. The front door was approved so we went to Home Depot to put in the order. Came home and got caught up on paperwork. Then we found out the fan died so with the hot weather I guess we need to purchase another fan.
Will be glad when Alan comes as for some reason I can't put any pictures from my camera chip on the computer.

Wishing Isaiah Good Luck for the future
Well today has been a great day as God sent some rain which we greatly welcomed. This will be the last day here for Lovely and Isaiah as they are going to L.A. to prepare to go back to Taiwan as Isaiah has to check in for his school. It was very hard for me to say Good-By to Isaiah as I know he will be involved with school now and he may not be able to come to U.S. with the family next time they come. Alan and Abby will come back from L.A. sometime next week and stay for sometime with us so we can have some time together before they return to Taiwan. I pray that they will all have a safe trip back to Taiwan.
Another Busy Day
I had a busy day today. I went to ceramics this morning then to the club to do oil painting. In the evening, I joined Alan, Lovely, Isaiah, Abby and my sister Ethel to meet with up some of Lovely's pals from Pepperdine. We had a delicious Mexican dinner at Miguel's Cocina, which was a new restaurant right near our house.
Last of July 2014
Ethel, Lovely & Bea took a drive to Chula Vista and checked out Rosa's, Fred's & the new owners of 81 Quintard Street. We also visited with Bill & Lilo Cofer. Then we went to Chad & Maria's for dinner. Alden, Josh, Alan, Isaiah, & Abby also joined us there and we had a great evening together.
How did I feel about seeing our "old house"? SHOCKING!

Starting A New Chapter
I haven't written for two whole years and I finally am getting back to blogging again. In case anyone is wondering what I have been up to, here is a brief update.
Since I last blogged my dear husband, Haniseli, went through a long struggle with a variety of medical problems as a result of his diabetes and dementia. Shortly after Thanksgiving of 2012 we took him to the doctor at Kaiser as he had a very bad cut on his foot from a fall. After many tests and health exams, Kaiser put him on "in home hospice care". This included an assortment of medical equipment as he was bedridden. A caregiver came to bathe him. We celebrated our 55th anniversary with him at home.
His health continued to deteriorate and by March of 2013, I knew he might not be here for long. On March 11th, as I sat by his bedside, the doctor came in the afternoon and arranged for him to be taken to the hospital. In four short days on March 15th, my sweet husband of 56 years was joyously received back home. Alan came from Taiwan and plans were made for the Memorial Service held on March 23rd.
After Al's passing, there was a sleuth of things to get done. We started to get things ready to sell the house we resided in for 37 years. My sister, Ethel, moved down to San Diego as she lost her husband a year ago. We wanted to move in to a retirement community in the San Diego area, but that was not going to happen until the house was sold. We listed the house for sale in the middle of April with the help of my son, Alden. And while Alan was here, we drove around and looked at different retirement communities. Two really stood out. One was in Oceanside and another in Rancho Bernardo. In the summer, many perspective buyers came to look at the house in Chula Vista. We finally had a solid offer and started packing and sorting through things. We even had an estate sale. The house was sold in the middle of August and we found a rental property in Rancho Bernardo. The move took place on August 17th.
While living in the rental, my sister and I felt this was the perfect place for us. We loved the church we started attending and all the activities that are available to us here. We joined the Ceramics Club. We found friends and neighbors who were interested in things like putting together puzzles or playing board and card games. Thus, we started seriously looking into buying a place in the 7 Oaks Community.
With God all things are possible.
In February of 2014 I saw a for sale sign and went and looked. From there, God kept the ball rolling and on March 22nd of this year, my sister and I moved into our own little place in the same community. This place is only two blocks away from where we had rented. These past 6 months have been filled with settling into our own little home. My son Alden and his son Joshua came over several times to help out with different chores and jobs that we could not do. What is our new place like?
It's a beautiful two bedroom, two bath condo with a sunroom and a front patio. It is quiet and safe with neighbors who are friendly and helpful. There are shops all within a 5 mile radius.
It is hard for me to imagine all that has happened within these past two years. Looking back, I see God's faithful hands, guiding and strengthening me all along the way.
Like the story on my favorite mug, Footprints in the Sand, that is exactly how I feel looking back through these past two years.
I hope this blog has helped you to catch up with all that I have been doing...

Relaxing Day at Home
Beautiful flowers in our garden
Had myself a chicken pot pie for lunch and planning to go to the market. This evening Alan, Isaiah, Abby and Kurtis will come over from Alden's and we will have sausage & beef lasagna and a green salad for dinner. So nice to have the family here. I feel very happy about this.

Birthday Fun with My Sons
85th Birthday Bash
The boys threw me a dinner birthday party over at Alden's. The cake was baked by my sweet granddaughter, Paige. The desserts even included chocolate dipped strawberries made my other sweet granddaughter, McKenna. The delicious dinner was prepared by Alden and Gina. What a wonderful evening!
